Who Would Do Such a Thing?

The SummerWinds Stables Welcomes Snap, Crackle & Pop, otherwise known as Candy.  She comes to us as a neglect case from a farm in NJ.  Her ribs are still showing, but we are working to correct that by feeding her lots of groceries!  Her teeth are missing because she was beaten in the face with something heavy.  Her jaw was broken and her teeth were knocked out.  We are feeding her a special diet because she is prone to choking when she eats.

We have had her for four months and she has managed to loose that fearful expression.  She no longer runs from us or trembles when we touch her.

She is so sweet and gentle - loves kids and loves attention.

She will fall asleep when you pet her nose.  Nothing bothers this horse at all - she is really just looking for someone to love her.
Stay tuned for her progress....we will be searching for the right home for her once she has been fully rehabilitated!  In the meantime, come out and visit her!

CANDY UPDATE -  Thanks to the help of our hard working volunteers, a long summer full of grain and grass, this is the new and improved Candy.  We are not there yet....but we are almost there!   A special Thanks goes out to Rosann, Kim and Yvette for all the time and money they spent making Candy as comfortable as possible.  This included cleansing her eyes with saline every 4 hours, providing the best food, and just a shoulder to lean on.  Thanks guys!
